5/25/2023 0 Comments Cory cronette![]() Dead air at a basketball game is different than dead air on radio, because there's so many cool other ambient sounds that allow the viewer to get into the game. The producer needs to teach these guys to chill and let it breath. Instead i just hear some dude randomly on a verbal walkabout that is distracting from the essence of the game. The sneakers chirping, the fans reacting, the whistle, maybe some back and forth between players. I would like to hear the sounds of the game. I don't know who was the color guy for the BC game but it was off the charts how intrusive his commentary was all the way from timing, to criticizing, to fumbling over the other commentator - but then all of the off-tangent talking was incessant and wouldn't stop. Instead, he'd rather accuse bleeding players of flopping.I hear what you're saying and agree. He could use his own experiences to take us into what the coaches/players are thinking, what's happening in the huddle, how the crowd is factoring in to the flow of the game, and so much more. ![]() He knows the coaches and often the players. The man has intimate knowledge of every blue blood program in D1 college basketball. On a related note, I think Jay Bilas could be one of the great analysts in the sport if he would just stop endlessly critiquing every foul call like he's Caesar in the arena giving a thumbs up or down to the gladiators below. Instead, he'd rather accuse bleeding players of flopping. The commentators are too busy prattling on about baldness or some other unrelated topic to explain what happened. It seems to happen every time that we watch a Duke game that my wife and I look at each other because a foul was called, but we don't know who it's on or why. It drives me insane when the commentators begin holding completely off topic conversations that they refuse to table when the refs make a call on the court. The purpose of a good analyst/color commentator is to use their extensive knowledge of the sport to enlighten the viewers. And he thinks the audience gives a rip about himself or his broadcasting partner. As the saying goes, better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.I'm late to this thread, and was wondering if I was the only one who was bugged to death by his incessant prattling on about nothing. ![]() What the.? Some guys just have no clue when to shut their mouths. And then there was some stupid rant about Pitt and Cheater father/son duos and that the sons are all shorter than their fathers and that it’s because they all have short mothers. For example, today during the first half of the cheater’s broadcast, even with all of the well documented (by ESPN!) effort that is currently being put forth by the Pelicans to improve Zion’s physical movements, he sat there and spewed nonsense about how and why Zion got hurt and stayed that the Pels really needed to invest in doing something different with him. Is this the right place to nominate Corey Alexander as the worst, most annoying announcer presently working for ESPN? He just seems to ooze pointless and often uneducated comments about anything and everything.
